They have a tremendous fighting tradition. And they are going into Afghanistan with no national caveats, and after they unpack and get acclimatized, they will be integrated into the Marine operations in Helmand. I want to express with great strength on behalf of the entire U.S. Government how much the United States Government appreciates the Georgian contribution. Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia on the resumption of movement through the ‘Kazbegi' (Georgia) and ‘Zemo Larsi' (the Russian Federation) checkpoints
In compliance with the agreements reached by the Georgian and Russian group of experts at the meetings held in Yerevan on 28 October 2009, through the mediation of the Armenian side and at the Kazbegi checkpoint on 23 December 2009, with the participation of the Swiss side, the movement through the "Kazbegi" (Georgia) and "Zemo Larsi" checkpoints (hereinafter "checkpoints") will resume as of 1 March 2010.
